“For 122 years the city has come out in full force to watch and enjoy the parades sponsored by Anheuser-Busch and International Bank of Commerce,” said Jay Puig, WBCA President.

The IBC Youth Parade Under the Stars and Anheuser-Busch Washington’s Birthday Parade applications can be found online at www.wbcalaredo.org under the WBCA Applications section.

Please note that hard copies of the applications can still be obtained (upon request) at the WBCA office located at 1819 E. Hillside Road.  To receive parade applications via e-mail please submit your request to wbca@wbcalaredo.org.

If you have not received your application via email and/or if this is your first time participating in WBCA parades, please notify the WBCA office immediately at 956-722-0589 and ask to be added to the email list.

The entry fee for each of the two parades for non-profit tax-exempt organizations is $20 and $250 for commercial entries.  An additional fee of $20 is required for all floats and entries with generators to cover the expense of the fire department permit fee. Any applications received after the Thursday, December 6th deadline will be assessed a $150 late fee.

Both parades will be sharing the same unifying theme this year: “Our Culture Unites Us.”

Float entries and parade units can find inspiration and show off all those diverse customs, music and traditions that make America and Laredo beautiful. Celebrate the USA and its influences from various parts of the globe. Show your patriotism and love for our Country and its diversity. Use this opportunity to teach our children about our beautiful city, state and country that we live in with its multi-cultural history, influences and people; and, showcase all the various sights, sounds, musical genres, cultures and traditions that we hold dear and unites us as one.

The IBC Youth Parade Under the Stars is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 21, 2019.  This illuminated evening parade highlights talented youth as they promenade over the streets of Downtown Laredo and entertain the crowds with their dance routines, marching units and fully decorated floats.

The Anheuser-Busch Washington’s Birthday Parade will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2019.  Referred to as the “crown jewel” of the Celebration, this international parade is led by the ever-popular Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales and features dazzling floats from all over South Texas.  During this parade, Princess Pocahontas is presented with a key to the City by the Mayor of Laredo; the Society of Martha Washington debutantes display their beautifully beaded, glittering gowns; and bands, marching units, clowns and dance teams perform for the crowds making this a truly unforgettable event.

Throughout the years, the Celebration has grown to be over a month long and consists of two parades, dazzling pageants, fireworks, a carnival, an air show, a car show, a sizzling jalapeño festival and much more.  Combined, WBCA events attract nearly 500,000 residents and visitors, and contribute an estimated $14 million every year to the local economy.

The Washington’s Birthday Celebration was recently ranked as one of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association (ABA) because of the excellent entertainment value it offers to both tour groups and individual travelers from around the world.

The 122nd Washington’s Birthday Celebration takes place January 24 – February 25, 2019.
