Leave the kids at home and enjoy a romantic evening courtesy of LULAC Council #12’s sizzling Noche Mexicana, a WBCA favorite since 1925.

Salsa, Merengue, Latino Pop, and Mariachi join in an eclectic mix of all that is reminiscent of Mexico in this fancy gala with a southern flavor held at the Laredo Civic Center Ballroom.

Live music, dancing, Mariachi singers; a roping show, comedians, and a slew of other entertaining line-ups further make this an unforgettable event.

The identities of LULAC Council #12’s  Señor and Señora Internacional honorees are among the Washington Birthday Celebration Association’s best kept secrets that keep everyone at the edge of their seats in anticipation of the great reveal.

One or sometimes even two recipients from each side of the border are selected every year to represent the United States and the Republic of Mexico in this WBCA staple that celebrates international brotherhood and some of the biggest names in the music, acting and political scene.

Established in 1977, the organizers of this bi-national and bi-cultural event search far and wide to pay tribute to the most deserving Latinos on both sides of the border and honor them for their individual achievements.  An added plus to this exciting awards gala is the star studded list of honorees who often stick around to sign autographs, join the parade and participate in other WBCA festivities following the awards ceremony.

Throughout its 30 year history, Señor and Señora Internacional has honored stars like Geraldo Rivera, Sabado Gigante’s Don Francisco, actor and comedian Paul Rodriguez and other popular entertainers like Jose Jose, Vicky Carr, Alejandra Guzman and Veronica Castro.

Last year, for the first time in the event’s history, Señor and Señora Internacional was held in conjunction with another WBCA event, Noche Mexicana; guests who welcomed the last minute change were treated to a two-for-one extravaganza.

All proceeds from the Señor and Señora Internacional event benefit the LULAC Council #12 Scholarship Fund.
