Ayssa Lizbeth Gonzalez is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nolberto and JoAnn R. Gonzalez and granddaughter of Mrs. Viola F. Ramirez and late grandparents Mr. Mauro Mario Ramirez and Mr. Manuel Gonzalez and Mrs. Oralia Guzman Gonzalez all of Zapata, Texas.

Ayssa is a senior at Zapata High School and is a member of the cheer-leading squad for three years. She is also actively involved in her local Mesquite 4-H Club. She participates in the Zapata County Fair with her livestock, art and baking projects.

Ayssa has attended presentations at several universities as part of the Zapata High School Gear-Up Program. She volunteers her time at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Ayssa is currently pursuing certification as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at her high school through enrollment in Laredo Community College. Upon her high school graduation in May, 2017, she plans to continue at Laredo Community College and transfer to Texas A & M International University and complete her nursing degree.

Ayssa’s mother has been a Pocahontas Council member since August 2010. Ayssa is the second member of her family to be presented in the Princess Pocahontas Court following her sister, Adriana, who was presented in 2010. She is making history by being the first to be presented as Princess Pocahontas from Zapata County. Ayssa feels honored to represent the Princess Pocahontas Council, the City of Laredo, the WBCA and Zapata County as Princess Pocahontas 2017.
