LAREDO, TX – The Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association is kicking off the festivities with the first contest of the season – a Commemorative WBCA T-Shirt Art contest for all ages 14 and over.  This is the first of many virtual events and social media contests to come in 2021.

The theme for this contest is “The Spirit of WBCA” and keeping with this theme is one of the various required components of the final artwork.  Participants can perhaps take inspiration for the artwork by capturing one or several of their fondest WBCA memories and transforming them into a t-shirt design.  Judges hope artists will highlight key elements of the Celebration that make it unique, in an edgy and updated t-shirt design for all to enjoy.  The winner of the t-shirt art contest will have their winning art featured during the upcoming 124th Washington’s Birthday Celebration and win a cash prize!  From parades, to the Jalapeño Festival, to the air show, carnival, and so much more– there is a little something for everyone to truly explore and get inspired! If you would like to submit your artwork, you have until Friday, April 23rd to do so.

The winner of the contest will be recognized as the Official Commemorative T-Shirt Artist of the 124th Washington’s Birthday Celebration. Please know that the terms “WBCA,” “The Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association, Inc.”, as well as the WBCA logo are registered trademarks of the Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association.  The artwork may be contemporary or traditional.  The artwork must be original with a maximum size of 9 inches x 11 inches and submitted to WBCA via email or turned in via the door mail slot of the WBCA office, located at 1819 E. Hillside Rd.  Please visit www.wbcalaredo.org and the WBCA Facebook page to download the commemorative t-shirt art contest application and to go over all the rules and details.
