Ruben Bazan Muzquiz

Ruben Bazan Muzquiz is a local customs broker and radio talk show host with his roots in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas and a deep connection to the border community for the last four decades. The son of Ruben Bazan Jr. and Sonia Muzquiz, Ruben understands well the importance of community involvement and fostering long-lasting relationships with others. After finishing high school in Laredo, Mr. Bazan moved to Washington DC where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Marymount University and Public Communication from American University. He moved back in 2009 and began a focus on customs brokerage along with a stint in academia, teaching Communication at TAMIU. With a penchant towards media and broadcast, he has succeeded in covering print and television and was nominated for Best Radio Personality in the 2022 Laredo Morning Times Readers’ Choice Awards. An advocate for international trade, he currently sits on the board of the Asociacion de Agentes Aduanales de Nuevo Laredo.

Furthermore, Ruben is also on the advisory committee for the Laredo Parks and Recreation department, championing for better spaces for Laredo’s families. He is proud to represent Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla for the second time at the 2026-2027 WBCA festivities and is grateful for the opportunity.

A philanthropist at heart, he has been recognized at the city level for his community fundraising efforts, benefiting Shriners Texas Children’s hospital in Galveston and feeding the less fortunate in Nuevo Laredo. Ruben Bazan currently lives in Laredo, TX, and his favorite thing to do is spend time with his wife Fabiola and their two sons, Ruben and Roman Guillermo.
