Taylor Jazz Salinas Princess Pocahontas, 18 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John-Michael Salinas, is a
distinguished scholar from the Julieta & Frank Staggs Academy of International and STEM
Studies. Taylor is graduating under the Performance Acknowledgment Plan and the
distinguished level of achievement graduation plan. She currently ranks #2 in her senior class.
She has earned placement on the Dean’s List in both her junior and senior years and was
accepted into the Staggs Academy with a scholarship under the Early Scholars Program.
Taylor’s
memberships include: National Honor Society of Staggs Academy, Student Council of Staggs
Academy, National Society of High School Scholars, Texas A&M International University’s
National Society of Leadership and Success, Youth Leadership of Laredo, MIT’s Mo-saiQ
Program for STEM and entrepreneurship, Computer Science Club of TAMIU, and the Rotaract
Club of Staggs Academy. Her hobbies include software development, horse riding, playing
piano, and anime.
Taylor plans to attend MIT, where she plans to major in Computer Science
with a focus on Machine Learning. Her dream is to work with artificial intelligence and robotics.
Taylor’s deepest ambition is to live a life that honors Jesus Christ and is proud to represent and
embody the role of Princess Pocahontas and the WBC with creativity and leadership.
Adolfo Romero, 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Allen Newsome Jr. Adolfo is enrolled at Lyndon B. Johnson Early College High School, part of the United Independent School District. Adolfo is graduating with a Distinguished Level of Achievement and a Performance Acknowledgment Plan, while also earning an Associate of Arts degree from Laredo College.
Adolfo’s memberships include four years in Johnson High School’s National Honor Society, membership in the National Society of High School Scholars, and participation in the Student Council. Adolfo is the proud chairman of the Unique, Loved, Gifted, Individual (UIGL) anti-bullying foundation at Johnson High School.
A dedicated athlete, Adolfo has been in sports his entire life and played football from elementary
to high school. Adolfo uses his free time to mentor young football players for BAYFL and plays Bingo with the elderly in nursing homes.
Adolfo has already received acceptance letters from the universities of Incarnate Word, the University of Texas at Dallas, and the University of North Texas in Dallas. His scholarships include the Presidential Scholarship at Incarnate Word and the Merit Scholarship for Texas State.
He plans to pursue a degree in business analytics and sports management.
His family is incredibly supportive and proud of his achievements and honored that he is
representing the Princess Pocahontas Council as this year’s Chief Earth Warrior.
